Description
This stunning Vlisco waxprint utilizes their densely woven 100% cotton base cloth and adds a special layer of metallic ROSE gold embellishment on one side of the fabric.
Wax printing is a technique inspired by Indonesian Batik and evolved by Vlisco since the the 1800’s. The wax is applied as a resist and the fabric is dipped in the first dye color. The wax is removed and re-applied for subsequent color applications. Due to this intensive process, the colors are stunningly vibrant and completely impregnate the fabric so that there is no right or wrong side to the fabric. What this means for your bags or other products is that the colors are incredibly long-lasting and resist fading. Vlisco works closely with the African couture design community and, as such, new collections come out only a few times per year and once these collection pieces are gone, they’re typically gone forever, making items made with these fabrics true collector’s items. Vlisco is never sold on rolls or bolts, but only in pre-cut, precious 6-yard (maximum) pieces. The fabric is 47 inches (120 cm) wide, from selvage to selvage. Last photo shows one yard of fabric for scale. **Please read the care instructions below for embellished wax print fabric.
All Vlisco designs are done in-house by their team of designers in the Netherlands. Vlisco has many followers but no peers.
